Creating links to shared files in Wiki pages
We know how important it is for our users to have strong integration between GroupCamp apps. We have now added the ability for users to add links to shared files in your project from a wiki page.
As shown in the screenshot below, all shared files are displayed with their respective icons. Mail objects which are forwarded to your projects using the project dropbox email are also displayed.
How to create a link to a shared file
To insert a link to a shared file, click on the insert button in the menu then choose the ‘file’ option:
Click on 'Attach a file' to browse the shared files in your project. The file attachment works the exact same way as in Tasks and Discussions.
Once the file is added, the name of the file will be added and highlighted in blue. To edit the link to a file you can either double-click on the highlighted text when in edit mode or select the linked text then click on the link button in the menu.
Please note that when there is a new version for a file, you do not have to update your link, the wiki page always links to the latest version.
Managing private files
When wiki pages contain links to private files, the linked files will be displayed with the private label:
For a user who does not have access to private files, the attachment will be displayed as shown below but without any file link to download.
We hope and we believe you will find this new feature very helpful. Please note that the feature still needs some tweaking on Internet Explorer(what a surprise!).
